New iPad to launch in China on July 20

New iPad to launch in China on July 20
Apple will begin selling its latest iPad in China on July 20, the company said today. The price will be similar to that in other markets -- between $499 and $699, depending on the storage. While the new iPad has been out elsewhere for months, it is just arriving in China, an increasingly important market to Apple. The company is beginning to generate more revenue from Chinese consumers, who see Apple products as a status symbol. The iPad's continued success has enabled Apple to dominate the still-nascent tablet market. While other companies have attempted to breach the market, they have only met with muted success. Google is attempting to get into the market itself with the $200 Nexus 7, while Amazon is believed to be preparing a follow-up to its Kindle Fire. The iPad will be available in China via Apple's Web site, authorized resellers, and by reservation from Apple retail stores. Reservation requests will be accepted beginning July 19. As in other markets, the older iPad 2 willbe sold for $399.
